Rio de Janeiro & Paraty
This trip departs year round -
7 Days/6 Nights from $2,500 per person
Days 1-3: Rio de Janeiro is affectionately referred to as the Cidade Maravilhosa (Marvelous City). It is an exciting cosmopolitan city with exuberant culture and stunning natural scenery. Nestled between lush tropical mountains and striking white sandy beaches, this is a city like no other. During your four days here, you will feel the rhythms of Bossa Nova and Samba at live music shows, taste the delicious cuisine prepared by Rio’s world renowned chefs, and experience Brazil like a local.
Your 4 star hotel in Ipanema is one block from the beach and right in the heart of this hip neighborhood. Your first look at the city is from the hotel’s rooftop pool overlooking the crashing waves below. You will experience all of Rio’s most famous and significant sites, from the Tijuca National Forest to the cable car ride to the top of the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Wander through the Ipanema markets with handicrafts from all regions of the country.
Brazil is renowned for its minerals and precious gems and there are many shopping opportunities to find that perfect souvenir. You can try the national dish – Feijoada – in the eclectic hilltop neighborhood of Santa Teresa, well known for its small galleries featuring local artists. Your trip is not complete without plenty of leisure time to enjoy Rio’s hottest beaches.
Days 4-6: We escape the bustling metropolis of Rio and head south along the Costa Verde (Green Coast) to arrive in Paraty. This beautiful coastal town is surrounded by tropical mountains of the Mata Atalantica (once Brazil’s largest rainforest).
The next three days you are taken back in time in this charming colonial city. The city’s cobblestone streets are lined with art galleries and café’s boasting strong Brazilian coffee and excellent restaurants.
You will enjoy a schooner cruise throughout the more than 200 islands that dot the Bay of Paraty. The emerald waters abound with fish and your afternoon is spent sipping coconuts on deserted beaches. Either on horseback or by foot, you can hike trails to arrive at peaceful fishing villages along the coast. Retire in the evening to our exclusive inn whose tranquil colonial ambiance captures the essence of the town.
Day 7: You are transferred back along the stunning coastline to catch your flight back home or to your next destination.
